One morning, Josie, a photographer, stumbled upon a distressed big orange cat named Lucian by the side of the road at 7 am. As she got closer, she noticed him watching her from the forest’s edge. Without hesitation, she decided to name him Lucian Lionheart.
While most people would have ignored the situation, she decided to take action by stopping her car. After chasing the animal into a small crevice, she successfully caught it and brought it back to her home – an amazing feat in itself!
“May My Cat Return to Me”: While healthy felines appear pristine, my cat Lucian was in a sorry state. His appearance was unkempt, as if he had been through a tough time and had lost considerable weight. We only discovered the extent of his condition after shaving off all his matted fur.
Lucian had a rather unpleasant appearance with his bloody, crusty, and mostly closed eyes. It was initially difficult to tell if he had any eyes at all. Additionally, he had big matted masses hanging off of his body, and patches of fur were missing. Despite his less than desirable state, Lucian was incredibly friendly and affectionate. Josie took it upon herself to clean him up, which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy as he purred loudly and displayed an insatiable hunger. Josie quickly fell in love with Lucian and knew she had to take him to an animal rescue center. However, upon arriving, they discovered that he required extensive treatment, tests, and infusions. This meant that he would have to stay with the rescuers, and Josie couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness leaving him behind. As a result, Josie wrote a heartfelt message, pleading for Lucian to be able to return home with her. She believed that he deserved to live the rest of his life feeling cherished and loved, with a full belly and soft bed.
Lucian had a difficult recovery period after being brought back home. Due to the matted fur, the vet had to shave it off, leaving him looking quite peculiar. Despite running a fever and being anemic, he was still able to eat and drink, which was an encouraging sign that he could recuperate. However, things became worse, and the situation deteriorated. The veterinarians discovered a noticeable mass that they were afraid could be cancerous, and they proposed putting him down. Josie, on the other hand, hoped that Lucian would spend the rest of his days in a loving environment, no matter how long he had left. She simply wanted him to receive the love and care he deserved after overcoming such a challenging ordeal.
Lucian’s Happy Ending After a long while of waiting, Lucian finally returned home to Josie, who was ecstatic to finally cuddle him. The once hairless cat had grown back his fur, making him the most beautiful and fluffy feline Josie has ever seen. He was like a sweet little angel, bringing joy to everyone around him.
Josie is convinced that her feline companion is a hybrid of Maine Coon and has already reached eight years old based on the veterinarian’s assessment. She gleefully describes him as the most adorable and affectionate little creature one could ever hope to have.
Josie wrote in amazement about how the cat, whom she found in the heart of the German Palatinate Forest, has now become an integral part of their family’s life in his forever home. It’s hard to believe that he’s the same feline who was abandoned and alone in the wilderness.
Currently, he is a stunning feline model, and his past struggles are hardly evident.
