A couple decided to forgo the usual wedding bouquets and instead, surrounded themselves with a group of charming rescue puppies.
During the hectic preparations for their wedding, Becky and John came across a touching appeal on The Little Guild’s Facebook page. The post was from a worried citizen who was desperately looking for someone to foster a litter of puppies found in their neighbor’s yard. This piqued the interest of the couple and they looked at each other with a smile, jokingly saying, “We’ve taken care of baby pigs and cows in the past, so this shouldn’t be too different, right?”
The couple’s adventure in becoming puppy parents started when they took in Penny and Patch as their first foster puppies. These little pups were so fragile that they needed round-the-clock attention, which led the couple to take a unique day trip to Cabela’s to purchase supplies for their honeymoon. With the puppies safely nestled in a diaper bag and feeding from bottles during the journey, they made their way to the store to get everything they needed.
Becky and her partner had a fast-growing family of puppies, adding Roley, Lucky, and Freckles to their brood. As they started introducing the pups to solid food, things became hilariously chaotic with the energetic pooches getting covered in their meals and needing regular baths. Despite the mess and madness, Becky fondly remembers those days saying, “It was absolute mayhem, but we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
On their much-anticipated big day, Becky and John amazed their guests with a heartwarming gesture. During the ceremony, they incorporated rescue puppies into their celebration by swapping out the usual bouquets for these bundles of fluffy bliss. Who needs ordinary flowers when you can have a group of furry, lovable wedding guests?
As luck would have it, all the cute little pups were adopted by loving families not long after Becky and John’s memorable occasion. These eager adopters sent in their applications and references, which also boasted compliments from their trusted veterinarians.
After spending time in foster care, Patch, affectionately known as Mo, found a forever home with John’s aunt. Becky attributes the puppies’ remarkable personalities to the extensive cuddling and attention they received while being fostered. However, Chelsea, the original owner of the puppies, reached out to clarify that the mother dog had been rescued from a shelter and had rejected her litter due to past trauma. This information dispelled any misconceptions about intentional breeding and the rescue organization expressed gratitude to Chelsea for sharing the truth. Despite the unexpected twists and turns, incorporating the puppies into their wedding created a heartwarming and unforgettable memory for Becky and John and their loved ones.
